In xinqiao town, Songjiang, Shanghai, the first community meal-assisting project that opened a platform for government subsidies and take-out was successfully launched in September last year. In 2024, the No.1 document of the State Council focused on the silver-haired economy. The Opinions on Developing the Silver Hair Economy and Improving the Welfare of the Elderly issued by the General Office of the State Council is the first special document to support the development of the silver hair economy. The document proposes to expand catering services for the elderly, guide catering enterprises, property service enterprises and charitable organizations to develop catering services for the elderly, and guide business entities such as take-away platforms and logistics enterprises to participate in the distribution of catering services for the elderly.

During the two sessions in Shanghai this year, Fang Yongxin, as a representative of the Shanghai Municipal People’s Congress, submitted the "Proposal on Building a Community Catering Service System for the Elderly Based on Digital Platform". After an in-depth investigation of the Shanghai community, Fang Yongxin put forward three suggestions, namely, building an O2O food delivery service system for the elderly in collaboration with government and enterprises, strengthening the supply of food-assisting commodities for the elderly, promoting the development of "transparent kitchen" and "sunshine kitchen", and promoting the aging transformation of the living service platform.

Building a digital base and introducing ecological power to the service for the elderly

Fang Yongxin believes that digitalization is the cornerstone to enhance the home-based care experience of a large number of elderly people. Aiming at the pain points of the elderly in the community, such as ordering food and buying medicine, and the existing social service system, we are trying to build a solid digital base for life service, so as to better play the offline performance ability of hungry people and the advantages of connecting ecological resources such as public welfare organizations and brand businesses.

In the past Spring Festival, in order to ensure the normal meals of some elderly people who live alone, we cooperated with Tuanjiehu Street in Chaoyang District and caring businesses to provide holiday love packages for six elderly people during the 16 days from New Year’s Eve to the fifteenth day of the first month.
