The road to the beginning of the heart | National model worker Mei Zhiping: Excellence, 12 years of "ingenuity" to achieve good results

From an ordinary locksmith to the youngest national model worker in Anhui Province, from technical white to the director of R&D department, Mei Zhiping, who is currently the deputy general manager, chief engineer and director of R&D department of Anhui Kechang Machinery Manufacturing Co., Ltd., only took 12 years.
Since joining the work in 2009, Mei Zhiping has not only participated in and presided over the research and development of more than 30 important patented technologies, but also won many awards such as the Science and Technology Progress Award of the All-China Federation of Industry and Commerce and the Science and Technology Award of Anhui Province. In November 2020, she became the youngest "National Model Worker" in China and was received by state leaders.

When talking about the feeling of being rated as a national model worker, Mei Zhiping, who just turned 33, told The Paper (www.thepaper.cn) frankly that only by doing his own work well can he live up to this honor. For a long time, "being sincere to others and doing things" is also the creed that Mei Zhiping insists on.
diligence is the means by which one makes up for one’s dullness
Mei Zhiping was born in a rural family in Quanjiao County, Chuzhou, Anhui Province. "When I was a child, my father often helped others repair diesel engines and farm tools. I often watched it, and over time I became interested in machinery." Mei Zhiping said.
In 2009, Mei Zhiping, who graduated from mechanical and electrical integration engineering in blue sky university, returned to his hometown and applied to be a locksmith in Kechang Machinery. He recalled the situation of looking for a job at that time and said, "Many people said that locksmith is the most bitter, tired and the lowest level, but I think that being a locksmith can learn technology, and more importantly, I am interested in it, so I signed up for the position of locksmith."
However, the job of locksmith seems simple, but it is not easy to operate.
To become a qualified fitter, one should not only have some basic knowledge, such as being able to read drawings, but also use some professional tools and machine tools to do scribing, drilling, sawing and filing.
"When I first came, it was more difficult, because the basic knowledge was weak, and even the drill bit with holes could not be ground well. The drill bits ground by the masters were sharp and durable, and the effect I ground was always unsatisfactory. I have to work during the day and have no time to study. I can only leave work at night. I stayed in the company to learn to grind the drill bit. At that time, there was no car in the whole development zone to return to the county, and it took me about an hour and a half to walk. " Mei Zhiping recalled.
With a passion and her own ability to endure hardships and study hard, with the help of colleagues and assembly workshop masters, Mei Zhiping learned to grind a drill in just three days.
Colleague Guo Shubiao also remembers this matter deeply: "I joined the enterprise with Mei Zhiping, when he was only 23 years old. Although he is young, this young man can endure hardships and is willing to study hard. He never flinched until he understood what difficulties he encountered in the operation. "
Because the locksmith did a good job, Mei Zhiping quickly stood out from the workshop. In 2010, he was transferred to the R&D department to become a technical designer.
stand firmly and fight steadily
The knowledge learned in college is obviously insufficient in the daily work of technicians.
Mei Zhiping was not discouraged. Based on his practice, he not only humbly learned from the old employees, but also bought professional books on machinery, hydraulics and electrical control. He practiced in actual combat during the day and read at night, and soon developed a set of excellent business and technical skills.
How to make the machine structure simpler, the operation more convenient and the labor intensity of workers less has become an important project for him to prove his ability in the technical department.
"In 2012, when communicating with customers, I found that when they molded the side plate buckle groove of freezer products, they all completed the molding through several processes. So I applied to the company to develop a combined mold that can form the product at one time. " Mei Zhiping said.
At first, this project was just an idea when communicating with customers about the technical scheme. Later, Mei Zhiping reported to the company’s leaders and was recognized and strongly supported by them. The whole implementation process was led by him.
Mei Zhiping introduced that after repeated technical conception, market research, numerous experiments and improvements, the combined forming die of plate and reinforcement with simple structure, convenient operation, high production efficiency and high product precision was finally successfully developed. The die can form all shapes of products at one time, simplifying the past multiple production processes into one process. It not only saves production costs, but also helps customers improve production efficiency and product accuracy.
In this process, I learned a lot of knowledge and accumulated a lot of experience. More importantly, this successful R&D experience has doubled my confidence and strengthened my belief in technology research and development. Mei Zhiping said frankly.
In August 2012, Mei Zhiping joined the technical research and development team established by the company, and successively participated in the research and development of two projects, namely, the foaming line for the linear box of the eight-position large bedroom cabinet and the automatic forming line for the inner liner of the new intelligent refrigerator. In 2014, these two projects won the provincial new product technical appraisal certificate, and Mei Zhiping also won the individual provincial scientific and technological achievement award for her outstanding performance.
"In fact, I know that my qualifications are mediocre, and I can only improve myself by constantly exploring and learning. Especially when I first entered the technology research and development department, I made steady and steady progress, and finally I will pay off." Mei Zhiping said.
The future is promising
After making some achievements, Mei Zhiping was not complacent and still worked hard in her post.
He gets up at 6: 30 every day and arrives at the company at 7: 00. He has less than an hour to rest at noon. He usually has to work overtime until 10: 00 at night to go home. After returning home, he studies online courses for college training to supplement his lack of knowledge. He doesn’t finish this busy day until 12: 00.
Opportunity is always kind to those who make unremitting efforts. In 2016, the company reorganized its shares, and the company faced the dilemma of declining performance and brain drain of R&D team.
R&D is the life of an enterprise. As a young technical backbone, Mei Zhiping stepped forward, took the initiative to apply for a heavy burden to reorganize the R&D team, and undertook the first domestic project of "automatic molding line for the center sill of kitchen cabinets", which was technically difficult and complicated. In the face of the company’s difficulties, some technicians who are still hesitating to stay decided to stay and tide over the difficulties with the enterprise under the encouragement and drive of Mei Zhiping.
"If you don’t have enough people, you have to work overtime. During that time, you basically worked overtime every day. There was no rest time on weekends. People who lived far away simply lived in the factory." Mei Zhiping recalled.
The R&D team overcame difficulties. Mei Zhiping personally demonstrated the scheme, followed the experiment and went online to debug every technical difficulty, and finally led the team to hand over a satisfactory answer sheet in less than three months. The efficiency of the project has been improved five times compared with before, and the enterprise has achieved a smooth transition in less than half a year.
Photo courtesy of Mei Zhiping During 2016-2019, Mei Zhiping led the research and development of a series of major scientific and technological projects, resulting in a series of patented inventions that promoted "Made in China" to "Created in China", and also helped the company to undertake cooperation projects of well-known home appliance enterprises at home and abroad, such as Haier, Hisense, Midea, Viet Nam and Hefa. According to preliminary estimates, the process improvement and new product research and development he led increased the direct or indirect economic benefits for enterprises by at least 1,000 yuan per year.Recently, Mei Zhiping and his team are working on an "automatic molding line for the inner container", mainly a machine for making the inner container of a refrigerator. The project is drawing to a close, and he is busy preparing for the next project.
"As an enterprise, we have entered the era of mass entrepreneurship and innovation. Nowadays, customers have higher and higher requirements for products, and we need to innovate constantly, so the pressure will be great. Only by constantly innovating and making continuous efforts can we win in the competition, so being busy is our normal state." Mei Zhiping admits that being busy makes him feel at ease, and he can see a promising future from being busy.
