Urban-rural integration accelerates the transformation of rural consumption from "survival" to "development"
CCTV News:According to the data released by the National Bureau of Statistics, in the first quarter of this year, the income and consumption growth of rural residents exceeded that of urban residents. Experts said that in recent years, the consumption of rural residents in China has gradually shown obvious characteristics from "survival" to "development" and from "life" to "experience".

Wang Xiudong, Deputy Director of Strategic Research Center of China Academy of Agricultural Sciences:From the whole classification, our (rural) residents’ consumption of eating out and education has the fastest growth, with a growth rate of 28.6%.

Experts believe that the reasons for the rapid growth of rural consumption are not only the increase of farmers’ income, but also the accelerated development of urban-rural integration, the flow of urban elements to rural areas, the extension of urban infrastructure to rural areas, and the deepening interaction between urban and rural residents’ living consumption.

Chen Lifen, a researcher at the Institute of Market Economy, the State Council Development Research Center:This results in three consumption increments. The first is the increase in consumption brought about by the upgrading of rural catch-up cities (consumption); The second is the new space for consumption caused by the sinking of industry and the sinking of consumption brought about by returning home to start a business; The third is the new increment of consumption brought by urban people’s consumption in rural areas.
