What exactly is marriage? Look at the ideas of this young people.
Ningbo net, ChinaReporter Lin Weiwei correspondent Summer Xu
Do you think marriage and childbearing must be closely linked? What is the main purpose of entering marriage? In the marriage relationship, how should the two sides properly handle economic problems to avoid unnecessary contradictions and conflicts? What is the most important factor affecting the stability of marriage and fertility?
……
Recently, the Marriage and Childbearing Service Research Group of Ningbo Women’s Activity Center conducted an in-depth survey of people of childbearing age to understand and master their ideas and attitudes on marriage and childbearing.
The survey randomly selected 188 valid questionnaires from 10,000 sample banks, and the respondents included reproductive age groups aged between 22 and 49. The research team analyzed the concepts of marriage and childbearing, and observed and analyzed various views and opinions of childbearing age groups on marriage and childbearing.
The trend of late marriage is obvious.
Promoting marriage gives birth to great pressure
Among the 188 valid samples, the respondents ranged from "post-75" to "post-00", with an age span of 28 years and a wide age distribution, which can better represent people of different ages. Most of them have a good educational background, with 60% of respondents with bachelor’s degree, 33% with master’s degree and a small proportion with doctoral degree, accounting for 3% of the total.
In this group of high-quality childbearing age groups, unmarried people account for the vast majority, accounting for 56%, while married people account for 40%. Among them, among those who have had marriage experience (including divorce, remarriage and widowhood), half of the respondents got married between the ages of 31 and 35, which is lower than the average age of first marriage, showing an obvious trend of late marriage.
Is there any pressure in the face of late marriage and late childbirth? As many as 65% of the respondents said that they did feel a strong pressure to promote marriage. In addition, 25% of the respondents said that they are not only under the pressure of urging marriage, but also under the pressure of giving birth, and they need to find a balance between personal choice and family expectations.
What are the main reasons for late marriage?
Finding the right person is the main reason.
Marriage is a major event in life, and "when a man is older, when a woman is older" is a traditional marriage value concept. In recent years, more and more people are wandering outside the marriage hall.
In the survey, 57% of the respondents want to get married between the ages of 26 and 30, but in fact, there is a big gap between the number of people who successfully get married within this ideal age range and their expectations. In addition, 32% people tend to get married between the ages of 31 and 35, indicating that they are more willing to choose a relatively late marriage time.
Further analysis shows that among these people who want to get married after the age of 30, 69% believe that the main reason for "late marriage" is that it is difficult to find a marriage partner. In addition, about 30% people think that the change of values, personal development, lack of psychological preparation, economic pressure and other factors are also important reasons for delaying their marriage. These factors may include career planning, education, personal interests and uncertainty about the future, which may affect a person’s decision on when to choose to get married.

Marriage is a necessity of life?
Social concepts are diversified.
The views of people of childbearing age on marriage are polarized. As many as 64% of the respondents think that marriage is not a necessity of life, and more than 30% firmly believe that marriage is an indispensable part of life, and 3% of the respondents explicitly refuse to enter marriage.
The purpose of their marriage is more diversified and complicated. More than 60% of the respondents think that marriage is not a traditional way to form a family, but to get spiritual comfort and support. They hope to find a person who can rely on each other and share their lives through marriage, so as to cope with various challenges and pressures.
In addition, quite a few people think that marriage is to consolidate and deepen their love, or to achieve economic mutual assistance, share living expenses and improve each other’s quality of life. Giving birth to offspring ranks relatively low in the purpose of marriage. Similarly, social recognition and external views have gradually lost their importance in marriage decision-making.
The purpose of marriage for childbearing age groups is no longer limited to traditional ideas, but pays more attention to personal emotional needs and quality of life. Behind this phenomenon is the diversification of social concepts and the liberalization of individual choice.
What are the main factors of marriage stability?
From economic distribution to housework division.
What are the influencing factors of marriage stability? This survey focuses on economic distribution and housework division, which are directly related to the daily life and psychological feelings of both husband and wife.
The division of housework is an indispensable existence in marriage life. In the survey, 70% of the respondents indicated that the division of labor should be flexible according to the specific conditions of both parties. They believe that the division of housework should be decided according to their own time, ability and preference, rather than sticking to traditional gender roles. In addition, 23% of the respondents support equal division of labor between men and women, and housework should be equally distributed to both husband and wife to show fairness and respect. Very few respondents think that men or women should do more housework.
In the survey, 40% of the respondents think that economic problems are one of the important factors affecting the stability of marriage. How to deal with the distribution of "financial power" in marriage to avoid unnecessary contradictions and conflicts?
67% of the respondents said that they should jointly manage their finances, and large expenditures should be decided through consultation. They believe that joint management can enhance the trust and cooperation between husband and wife. 13% of the respondents believe that they should manage their own finances separately, so as to maintain economic independence and reduce conflicts caused by money problems. In addition, 17% of the respondents expressed support for the way that one party with more experience and ability in economic management leads and the other party participates in decision-making.
To be or not to be?
This is a problem.
Getting married and having a baby is no longer a one-way street in life, but a diversified lifestyle.
The survey found that most respondents hold an open attitude towards fertility. 63% of the respondents said that they can accept childbirth, but it is not something that must be done in life. In other words, childbirth is not a compulsory choice for them, but an optional option. 28% of the respondents believe that childbirth is necessary. 10% of the respondents were infertile. Relatively speaking, only 10% of the respondents are barren, which shows that in the current social environment, there are relatively few people who choose not to have children.
Among the 170 samples that must have children and can have children, 38% of the respondents plan to have only one child, 22% are willing to have two children, 3% choose three children and the more the better, and 37% say to have children naturally. 75% people think that it is the same to have boys and girls, and even the number of people who want to have girls exceeds the number who want to have boys.
Raising "human cubs" is not an easy task, it is a "task" that requires a lot of time and energy. Among those who are willing to have children, 67% hope that both parents can share the responsibility of raising children. Because raising children is not only the responsibility of mothers, fathers should also actively participate in it, share the burden of raising children together, and establish a closer parent-child relationship.
In addition, 21% of the respondents hope that their elders can participate in the raising process. Elders have rich experience and wisdom and can provide valuable advice and support for young parents. The participation of elders can not only help young parents better cope with various challenges in parenting, but also provide more care and companionship for their children.
The survey found that the vast majority of people who are willing to have children lack long-term planning for the growth and education of their future children before becoming parents. Only 8% of the respondents said that they have made a detailed birth plan, and they are fully prepared economically to ensure that they can provide the necessary support and guarantee for their children’s growth.
